As We Approach the Year Anniversary of the Murder of Jamal Khashoggi

Khashoggi’s murder at the hands of the Crown Prince and his supporters was an attack on freedom, independence journalism and the Rule of Law. Sadly, the US response of almost complete silence has only embolden totalitarian dictators throughout the region and world. It is important that we have principles and that we stand by them. The Saudi’s decision to murder and dismember a journalist because they didn’t like what he said is something we should never ever tolerate and yet we are. There is no excuse.

If we believe in anything, we should believe in the Rule of Law rather than the Rule of the gun or the sword.
