Video tapes in the George Floyd case may hurt and help the officers.

Hennepin County Judge Cahill ordered the release of more tapes in the George Floyd murder case. The Kueng and Lane videos certainly help fill out the picture of their roles and the timeline. In fact, it helps to provide a more three-dimensional view of events and events fills in a few more gaps. Officer Lane’s criminal defense lawyer included them in his motion to dismiss. The purpose of this is really to set Lane apart from the other officers so he isn’t lumped in with the larger group. It also highlights the need to look at the force continuum used by the officers as this ramped up. It is honestly almost impossible to watch. Knowing the ultimate outcome, it feels like a purposeful murder in slow motion that you want to stop but can’t. I appeared on WCCO radio in Minneapolis on 8/10 @ 6:50 am to discuss.
